We started this site with 1,000 hand-picked puzzles. Today, we're at over 6 million — the full Lichess puzzle database, filtered for quality and rated by difficulty, all free to solve.

Why this matters

The biggest limitation of a small puzzle set is repetition — solve enough puzzles from a fixed pool and you start recognizing specific positions rather than the underlying tactical ideas. With millions of puzzles spanning every rating band and every common theme, that ceiling is effectively gone. Whether you're just starting out around 800 or grinding toward 2200+, there's a genuinely huge, never-repeating supply of positions waiting for you.

You can still filter by rating range and tactical theme exactly like before — forks, pins, mating patterns, endgames, and more — just against a dramatically larger pool underneath.

Free AI explanations, for everyone

Alongside the puzzle expansion, every account gets free daily AI-generated explanations. After you solve a puzzle — or give up and reveal the solution — click "Get AI explanation" and get a short, plain-language breakdown of the exact tactical idea in that specific position: what pattern made the winning move work, and why the obvious alternative doesn't.

This isn't a canned explanation pulled from a database. It's generated fresh, for the exact puzzle in front of you, every time.

What hasn't changed

• Solving is still completely free, no account required.
• Creating a free account still gets you a personal rating, solve streaks, and a daily puzzle.
• The daily puzzle still resets once every 24 hours, the same for everyone.
